VAR leadership came out in support of Governor Bob McDonnell’s transportation tax plan, attending (and in one case participating in) press conferences in Newport News, Northern Virginia, and Roanoke.
VAR president-elect Brad Boland (below) took to the podium at the Center for Innovative Technology in Fairfax County to reiterate VAR’s support for fair, substantive transportation funding.
Transportation, Boland explained, is a quality of life issue that affects our daily lives and communities, and often one of the first things that a potential home buyer asks about. The Governor’s plan offers substantial long-term revenue dedicated towards transportation and “we are delighted to support this initiative.”
VAR 2013 president Mary Dykstra of Roanoke attended the press conference there, while vice-president Deborah Baisden was at the Newport News event.
